Frequently Asked Questions

A PET Scan or PET/CT is the most advanced medical imaging technique currently available.  A PET/CT combines Positron Emmision Tomography (PET) with Computed Tomography (CT). Together this combination allows for a more accurate detection of disease than either a PET or CT alone.  PET/CT is not only good for early detection of disease, but also treatment monitoring and restaging.

A PET is a procedure that is able to detect small cancerous tumors, and also changes in the brain and heart.  PET shows the extent of the disease.  This enables physicians to treat these diseases earlier and more accurately than conventional scans.
